The Summer Marathon Classic Car Race stands as a testament to the enduring allure of classic automotive design. The 2024 edition was a spectacular display of vintage vehicles, each exemplifying the pinnacle of engineering and style from the past century. From the elegant lines of 1950s Alfa Romeos to the sleek 1967 Fiat Spider and the powerful engines of Porsche, every car on display embodied timeless beauty and craftsmanship.

Scenic Routes Through the Heart of Italy

The race began in the historic town of San Pellegrino, renowned for its thermal baths and Art Nouveau architecture. Participants embarked on a journey through some of Italy’s most scenic routes, navigating the winding roads of the Italian Alps, the serene valleys of Lombardy, and the charming villages that dot the landscape. Each leg of the race highlighted the natural and cultural beauty of the region, offering drivers and spectators a feast for the eyes.

A Unique Experience: Team USA and France

My personal experience in the race was unforgettable, as I teamed up with my dear friend and driving partner, Sophie. Unable to drive stick shift, I took on the role of guide. Together, we made a unique USA-France team in our sultry red 1967 Fiat Spider. Our partnership earned us the Award of Elegance at the race's summary reception—a truly rewarding feeling! We were also accompanied by our amazing mascot, Coco the bird.

During the event, I had the pleasure of chatting with Christiana Lissidini, daughter of the founder Ferruccio Lissidini. Christiana, A  brilliant attorney, continues her father’s legacy with Adamello magazine. She shared her father’s vision, which combines his passion for the mountains, cars, and the Italian Alps.

Ferruccio's passion for racing began at his grandfather’s petrol station, where he witnessed famous races like the Coupes des Alpes. His love for cars led him to become a skilled pilot and eventually, to create the Summer Marathon—a brilliant fusion of his automotive passion and his expertise within tourism.
